A home and garden retailer with a strong product catalog was over-reliant on paid search and seasonal promotions to drive online sales. Potential customers researching home improvement projects rarely encountered the retailer's products in the editorial content they consumed during the consideration phase -- leaving significant revenue on the table during the research-to-purchase journey.
We developed a content-to-commerce strategy that combined native editorial articles on lifestyle and home improvement publications with a carefully curated network of 22 affiliate partners. By embedding product recommendations within genuinely useful content and activating performance-based CPL and CPA affiliate partnerships, we created a new revenue channel that influenced purchases throughout the consideration funnel -- all on pricing models where the retailer only paid for measurable outcomes.


We turned editorial influence into measurable commerce through CPL-based content partnerships and CPA-based affiliate activation -- paying only for leads and sales, never for impressions.
We developed sponsored editorial articles on 12 premium home, lifestyle and DIY publications -- covering seasonal garden guides, kitchen renovation checklists and smart home setups. Each article featured natural product integrations with tracked links, bought on a CPL basis so the retailer only paid when a reader clicked through and engaged with a product page.
We recruited and activated 22 affiliate partners including deal sites, home improvement blogs, comparison platforms and interior design influencers. Each partner was selected for audience alignment and content quality rather than volume alone -- and every one operated on a pure CPA model.
We designed tiered commission structures that rewarded partners for driving new customers and higher basket values. Top-performing affiliates earned escalating CPA rates as they hit volume thresholds, aligning incentives with the retailer's most valuable outcomes rather than just last-click conversions.
We analyzed engagement metrics in real time -- scroll depth, product click-through rates, time on page and downstream conversion -- to refine content formats, headlines and product placement positions. This data-driven approach increased content engagement rates from 5.4% to 8.2% over the campaign period.
